Social Action Briefs

Social Action Analysis 1
I then looked at a Community Media promotional video for over the over 60’s, the exercise regime is set to help the over 60’s in keeping fit, but this isn’t just an ordinary exercise class, you can sit down and they do easy work outs to keep you fit. This is especially good for older people as it is a gentle work out. In the promotional video it includes clips of what the exercise group do, there is also a voice over which explains to us what the group is all about. So that we are not listening to solid talk, they break up the video by having members of the group talking about their experience within the exercise group. This video I almost enjoyed watching as it was a simple but an effective video in the ways in which it broke up the video so you weren’t just watching one thing.

Social Action Analysis 2
In this short promotional video it shows us footage of the relatively new Marriotts walk it shows us all the new shops and what it has brought to the community. It shows what Witney used to look like before the new developments came in. It has a wide variety of different people giving interviews and giving us their thoughts on the development of Witney. This video is trying to engage all ages, so they show interviews of young mums talking about the complex, they also have interviews of older people so that the video can get maximum target audience. They have interviews with important people such as David Cameron who is the prime minister, having David Cameron in the video puts a trusting feel upon the video as we have the likes of David Cameron and MP’s talking about Witney town.

Social Action Analysis 3
I then looked at Oxford Brookes open day 2010 video promotional video, ultimately their audience for this clip would be younger adults, such at 18year olds as it has interviews with current pupils of the university. As well as having interviews with current students and students that are applying they show us the facilities that Oxford Brookes can offer to pull the audience in. they have a range of different facilities such as a gym, swimming pool and local buses that are free if you attend Oxford Brookes. We then have interviews of people that are on certain courses and they talk a bit about the courses so that it also shows the educational aspect of the university. As it shows us all the different advantages of being at Oxford Brookes I feel that it is a successful promotional clip.

Brief Analysis

Brief Analysis 1
I managed to find was a competition brief this was found by searching the internet, the brief was found on the Doritos advertising page. We know that this is a competition brief as you gain a cash prize at the end of it if you win. The brief tells us to produce an advert that is “undeniably cool”. So it is asking us to create and advert that will really sell the product and to make an advert that you would see as being funny and inventive. Also to possibly have a “cliff-hanger” of an ending so that you could create adverts that relates to the first one, therefore it would be easy to create a sister advert. If I were to have this brief it would put my creative skills to the test. I would create an advert that I would personally like to see to the television, for example if I were to watch a food advert I would have a funny narrative with a man running through town wearing a Doritos costume, it would be a 29 seconds short film. This would fit the brief as it would be an advert that would make me and my friends laugh if they were to see it.

Brief Analysis 2
The next brief I found was a formal one, this means that the brief may include government or local authorities such as local charities. This particular brief asked for a video to be made to be used all the time with the charities. So this video would be used to promote the charity and to put on the website. So that when you look on the website it will have a promotional clip. If I were to have received this I would come up with a video that would show various different people going all around and helping out the charity and raiding money for it. I would also have members of the charity telling us what the charity has done to help them. This would be a very effective video in the ways that it would engage the audience and tell us about the charity itself.

Brief Analysis 3
I stumbled across a commissioning brief, which means that the brief was targeted to everyone. This brief was to create a child drama for the CBBC channel, the programmes that are on CBBC such as Tracy Beaker and The Sarah Jane Adventures these were 2 among the many show that were listed that they would like the new show to follow. The brief gave you a choice of what drama you would like to do, so that it gave you a bit more freedom. The aimed the audience at younger children those ages being 6-12 year olds. They also wanted the Drama to be “ambitious and aspirational, both rooted in the UK and with global appeal.

Proposals

Proposal 1
I have been asked to create three five minute webisodes, to show the life of student and how they make choices in life after GCSE’s. This will be aimed at 14-15 year olds, and I will be aimining my show and that age so we can persuade them that higher education is the way forward in life. Having thought deeply about the content of my shows, for my first webisode I have decided to have people that are in seconds years of their courses to tell us about their own experiences within the college. As we are trying to reach a broad audience ( so pupils from all around) I will have students that are all doing different courses  and will ask them to tell us how they are getting on and whether they enjoy life at college. I will also have the students parents telling us their own storie about their spouse and the trials and tribulations that they went through when deciding what to do.
I will have a variety of different students on different courses so that the film will reach a good, large target audience, so it will not be a film that is just based on 1 subject but a range of different courses. I will also have a section in the 5 minute film of the people who have decided to do other courses within the further educations for example Apprentiships and sixth form. This will hopefully inform the student about any aspect of further education that they may need. Although this will reach a variety of different courses the webisode will be mainly based around college as a further education. This webisode will tell the parents and spouse what to do when coming out of lower education.
Proposal 2
My second webisode will be focused on sixth form in the college,  I will reach out ultimarely to the parents and will have various tips to help their child to decide what they would like to achieve and become. I will have clips of parents telling us how the college helped to help them reach a decision. I will show the variety of different subjects that can be done in college and will show clips of the lessons in hand.
I will have this webisode following the different students through making their decisions. I will have the students telling us what they think of further education at the moment and whether it is something that they may be interested in. This will give information on what to do when choosing and applying for the right courses.
Proposal 3
My third and final webisode will be the pinical of everything that we have researched about the students that we would have been following will be going ahead with there decisions. It will show them on enrollment day and receiving the information they need to do the course.  After a week of them doing the course we will follow back up with them and ask them whether they believe it was the right choice. We will also follow up with the parents and they will tell us whether or not these webisodes have helped them and their child to deicding what they want to do after GCSE’s.
